Some
are born, so "they" say, with silver spoons in their mouths.
I was born most assuredly with a book in my hands. I feel
luckier by far! Born and reared in New Orleans, Louisiana,
I was nourished on good books. I grew up knowing what joy
awaited me between the pages of a book.
From my early experiences grew a powerful love of reading
and an everlasting thirst for knowledge. My belief that
all children deserve the right to have these same feelings
was the driving force behind my degrees in Psychology and
Early Childhood Education (BS), Urban Education (EdM), teaching
positions and tenure with CLI.
There is no greater joy for me than sharing good books with
children and watching the love grow. The books listed below
were chosen for their overall appeal to kindergartners.
They are stories to which, for one reason or another, we
can all relate. These are the stories students ask me to
read to them over and over again. More importantly, these
are the stories I do not mind reading over and over again!
They are funny, exciting and thought-provoking. ~
