CLI's Message Time Plus® is a seven-step process in which:

• teachers plan messages based on standards, content being taught, high-frequency and rich vocabulary
• teachers write the message as the children watch, make predictions, and read along
• children come to the board to identify any letter or print elements they know
• teachers extend each child's knowledge through scaffolded mini-lessons
